Our Objectives
As the research entity for Kaiser Permanente Northern California (KPNC) and The Permanente Medical Group (TPMG), KPRNC has the following objectives.

Establish KPNC as a national leader in creating transformational knowledge for longer, happier, and healthier lives
Discovery and evidence-based care are core to value-based care transformation for our communities. We aim to be among the nation’s top 5 research efforts embedded within a non-university health care system and in the top 10% overall for clinical research.

Enable KPNC as a recognized leader for continuous learning and care transformation within an integrated health care delivery system
We work to enable rapid-cycle care transformation through research-grade evaluation and publication of most major new regional care initiatives, evidence-to-implementation collaborations in every major specialty, and efforts across all Institute of Medicine Learning Health Domains.

Make TPMG and KPNC the best places to conduct research and to be a researcher
People are the heart of our research programs. KPNC works toward being the best place to be a clinical and population health researcher, to train, and to conduct research for all team members.

Identify and reduce differences in major health outcomes
Our programs identify differences in major health outcomes within our communities and inform evidence-based and unbiased strategies for maximizing health outcome equity by demographics, geography, and socioeconomic status.

Maximize efficient access and uptake of clinical trials for members who need them
Our clinical trials programs seek to maximize efficient, compliant, and universal access for new treatment options, especially for people with fewer alternatives, leveraging our integrated care model.
